It is a beautifully printed, loose leaf publication of 114 pages, with five colored plates, 31 maps, showing distribution, and 71 figures, illustrating the species and subspecies described. After describing the characters of the genus Strombus and its world-wide distribution, this excellent monograph proceeds to describe and discuss the 89 fossil and living Indo-Pacific species, of which sixty are living. Dr. Abbott notes that 38 of the 50 full species of recent Strombus are found in the Indo-Pacific, and every one of these is abundantly illustrated in this paper.
