In one of the most attractive, the entire shell is suffused with a reddish color. This form fluoresces bright scarlet which can be readily recorded on photographic film. The three pictures show the normal and red form of Cypraea mappa photographed in (a) normal light, (b) under conditions of visible light fluorescence, and (c) using infrared-sensitive color film to record infrared fluorescence. The contrast between the two forms is much more striking under the latter two conditions than under normal light.
