It offers either the boat or shore diver great shelling and beautiful scenery. And it is the scene of my greatest shelling find. Ray Wichus and I made an early morning shore dive from the Makapuu scenic lookout in April, 2004. The low tide had created about a ten-foot drop into the water from our entry point. The trade winds were blowing crisply and a strong northeast swell was breaking, showering the cliffs with spray and dirtying the water. But we made our entries without mishap and snorkeled eastward along the cliffs.
