Natural directory C. ostergaardi Dall. Habitat -- Living specimens not known; shells dredged from 350 feet beached specimens frequent. Distribution -- Apparently endemic to the Philippines Islands. Throughout the Philippines chain. Natural directory
Natural directory We took a few Calliostoma jujubinum, large and purple. The sea fans were alive with Cyphoma gibbosum.. I looked in vain for my first C. macgintyi, let alone a C. signatum, of which Sid found two. (C. macgintyi, incidentally, is named for Thomas McGinty who lives at Boynton Beach and spells his name McGinty!) Don't believe those tales that flamingo tongues are camouflaged on the sea fans. We could see them in clusters far off. Several times I thought I was taking Simnia but, later, with my glasses on, I realized they were merely immature Cyphoma and should have been left alone.
