Natural modeschmuck
Natural modeschmuck In 1951 in St. Petersburg, Fla., I met A. W. Falkenberg. He was living on Gulf Boulevard north of John's Pass. He had lived in the Solomon Islands for many years and had amassed a splendid shell collection from these Islands. He told us that in the Solomon Islands he had noticed that the black spots on many shells had been replaced by a reddish-orange color, and he showed several specimens to prove it. Natural modeschmuck
Natural modeschmuck Up early next morning, Johnny and I snorkeled first a short distance from the hotel, near a breakwater that formed a primitive harbor. The water was crystal clear, but a swift current swept over the reef. We had to swim continuously to maintain our position over the live coral that grew in profusion there. We found nothing. New shelling areas always present a problem of finding where the shells live, I explained to Johnny with what patience I could muster. On this reef, they just didn't live here! Natural modeschmuck
