Pearls
Pearls "Qawra Squares, " a rectangle of enclosed water on the neck of Qawra Point, is subdivided by internal concrete walls which are submerged at high tide. (Tidal rise and fall is about fifteen inches). The southern border is breached and water circulates at all stages of the tide. The floor is more or less flat with an average depth of four feet. Algae colonies on the concrete subdivisions were sampled and found, on one day only, to contain large populations of Columbella, Cerithium, Cantharidus, Rissoa, Mitra and juvenile Conus. On a subsequent day there was absolutely nothing here. Pearls
