Philippines shells joyeria "In this area shallow water except for the bays and channels extends for a considerable distance from the reef. In Cetti Bay for instance, shallow water (to 80 feet) extends for almost a mile offshore, and is of the barren, sparsely coralled type of bottom, except for shallow sandy spots. I have covered every inch of this entire area, including all bays and channels in the daytime, and have made at least one dive at night in all of the bays and channels. The spot where dead aurantium was found is just adjacent to Fouha Bay. This has proven to be a rich area for many species of Cypraea as well as Conus, Cymatium, Turbo, and Murex triqueter, and I have concentrated my night diving here – making a dive as often as weather and other circumstances will permit. This place is an exception to most of the area, and slopes off rather quickly to a depth of 110 feet. Most of the bays are dead areas, since they are very often flooded with fresh water. They are very silty, and for the most part unproductive shelling spots. It would be interesting to learn if the sister's shell was found in the area (off Lalas Rock, between Fouha and Cetti Bays) where I have been searching most diligently. Other channels, and around the mouths of the bays have proven poor shelling grounds, and I won't devote any more time to them. Philippines shells joyeria
Philippines shells joyeria The C. caputserpentis observed in the Sand Island area are darker and generally larger, (from 29mm X 21mm to 37mm X 26mm) with some adults showing a definite dorsal stripe of darker color and a general blurring of the dorsal spots, plus the absence of the usual whitish blotches at anterior and posterior ends and a quite blackish base.
