Philippines shells philippine product In the Philippine area there still remains the puzzling Midway and Kure Island seashell illustrated as Cypraea latior Melvill by William Old, Jr., of the American Museum in the December 1963 issue of the Philippine Shell News, page 4. The status of the seashell therein illustrated has not been settled and perhaps will not be until animal observation and dissection are carried out. Opening a small crevice and examining the interior, Ken handed me a live C. cicercula, giving us new information on the range of this little sea shell. One of the last turned up that day was C. pulchra. It was a nice specimen, a little over three fingers in length.
