Hickson also suggested that the biblical reference to 'coral' in the Book of Job ('No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.') actually means black coral, and that the word translated as 'rubies' in the English Version of the Bible really refers to the precious red coral. Cernohorsky in H.S.N., Vol. X, No. 10 on the above subject, and would like to add a little further information to his remarks. Firstly I must refute Mr. Cernohorsky's statement to the effect that "authorities agree that all such specimens are peculiar to New Caledonia." Melanistic and rostrate specimens of Cypraeidae have been found for many years on the Keppel Islands, 10 miles east of Yeppoon in southern Queensland, also in the Capricorn Group, at Shoalwater Bay on the mainland north of Yeppoon, and on Curtis Island.
