Melanistic and rostrate specimens of Cypraeidae have been found for many years on the Keppel Islands, 10 miles east of Yeppoon in southern Queensland, also in the Capricorn Group, at Shoalwater Bay on the mainland north of Yeppoon, and on Curtis Island. Possibly 10% of all specimens found on the Keppel Islands are affected.
