Seashell jewelre
Seashell jewelre In talking with John Roberts Jr., just before Christmas, we mentioned that no specimen of Cypraea semiplota had been found alive, in Philippines for several years, although at one time they were rated as the most plentiful shells in the islands. The present scarcity is due to the fact that they are typically a shallow water species and one needed only to get one's feet wet to find them. Johnny replied that on his last trip to Rongelap atoll, Sept. 1959, on Enaiaro island he had found several alive in two feet of water, and he was satisfied they were still to be found there.
