Wood fleck
Wood fleck Some of the more interesting smaller Philippines shells were Liotina peronii and Triphora corrugata. One only small, very shiny, white Eulima species was found. Terebra strigilata was living in the sand at low tide. Nerita, Nassarius, Cerithium, Potamides, Natica, Trochus, Pyrene and Dentalium were well represented, also Malarapha and Siphonaria. Wood fleck
Wood fleck Jim Jones, 23A Kimo Drive, Honolulu, recently became a member of HMS He is also a new comer to shell collecting. Beginners luck or otherwise, here is a list of Philippines shells Jim collected on his first four dives. A Cypraea chinensis, found off Waikiki; then a C. carneola (not a leviathan) taken off Lanikai, third, a C. tessellata collected off Waikiki; and finally an excellent specimen of Murex pele found half a mile Waianae of Barber's Point light. Cliff Weaver, a collector for over twenty years, charter member and Past President of HMS, can't say his recent finds were beginners luck. However, they are no less interesting. In the past two weeks Cliff has found 2 Cypraea chinensis; 1 C. latior; and 1 C. rashleighana, all live taken; plus 1 recently dead C. lynx, all collected off Lanikai. Wood fleck
